The Nutcracker Tradition

Today I took Rhyan to see 'The Nutcracker' ballet. This is the third time she has gone and she still she has trouble following the story. It reminded me though, of all the times my parents took me to see the same ballet as a child. I could never remember what was going on from year to year. I find it interesting that she fell asleep in the same part that I would when I was her age. Her favorite parts are the ones I loved so much as a child. It makes me feel as if I have come full circle. Now when I watch the ballet I pay attention to the intricate footwork and marvel at the skill the dancers have, just like my mother did. I hope that one day Rhyan will take her daughter and she will fall asleep and Rhyan will watch the dancers and the circle will continue on and on.

Sibling Love?

Just when I think my kids are never ever going to like each other I see something like this:

This is Levi's goal chart. He completed it and got to go spend 2 weeks with Nana & Papa. Notice how Rhyan congratulated him at the bottom. Maybe they don't hate each other after all.

Snow

It's snowing again. I hate snow in Las Vegas. It's like fat white raindrops. It almost never sticks. I've been here 12 years and I only remember it sticking once, (2005). When it does, it's interesting. Otherwise it just makes ice cold puddles that freeze your feet because Las Vegans don't own real boots. (We only own the ones that look nice and aren't meant to keep you warm). I hate cold wet sneakers. And I hate rain that pretends to be snow.

*After I finished this post, I looked outside, and well check out the slide show and see for yourself.

Santa Claus...Oh No!

The jolly old man in the red suit. Something about that man either inspires love or terror. Today at Katie's preschool he visited. Isabelle loved him. Katie didn't. She would only get near him if Isabelle went with her. What a good little sister setting an example for her big sister.

Ma!

Dizzie is a stinker.

She can and will say everyone's name, Dada, Levi, Rhyan, Katie. She can even say the dog's name Gidget and our friend's name Marena. She won't say Mama. I didn't mind at first because at night when she wakes up she calls for Da not Mama because that's all she can say. But as time goes on and she uses everyone else's name its begun to bug me. I've used bribery and every other method I can think of to no avail.

Yesterday, when I dropped Katie and Rhyan off at school, my friend carried her so I could take Katie to her preschool class before the bell rang. (She goes to preschool at the elementary school). My friend said that Dizzie had been calling me the whole way. When we tried to get her to say my name, she just smiled her 'butter won't melt in my mouth' smile and wouldn't do it. I still have never heard her say my name.

Merry Christmas One & All!

Dear Family & Friends,

This year we wanted to email everyone a little movie, but discovered that it didn't email so well. So this is Plan B.

video

We hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season.

Teasing

What makes boys entertain themselves by continuous teasing? Rhyan and Levi are on different tracks this year. Rhyan is in school and Levi is on break. I have spent the last three days teasing and silliness. I have begun to realize that I would rather have all 3 girls whine and cry in unison than deal with Levi's silliness.

Whoever said raising boys was easier than girls should have their brains checked!

Baby Spanish

Today Katie informed me that we can't understand Dizzie because she speaks baby spanish. Who knew?
